Question by ooizzyoo: How early should I buy an airplane ticket to get cheap air fares?
Here’s the situation:
My aunt invited us over to the US to spend some time with her. Our passports are still in the process of renewal and we are scheduled to get them between May 7 – May 15. We still don’t know the exact date when we’ll be able to get the passports and my aunt told me that if she were to buy tickets close to departure date, they would be really expensive. So how early should she purchase tickets to avail of cheaper air fares? We are from Philippines, by the way.

Hello ooizzyoo,
In my experience purchasing airline tickets 3+ weeks in advance is your best bet for getting a lower rate. In your case since you are uncertain exactly when you will receive your renewed passport, and it’s already 5/2/09, looking at airfare for late May, or early June may be your the best time.
Hope this helps and Safe Travels!
