I like kayak.com, which will give you some idea of the trend of the prices. While generally it’s good to book as soon as you know the dates you want to go, because the cheapest seats always go first, and are very limited. That said sales usually happen closer to when the flight is leaving – so I rarely book more than three months out (which is soon for february)

You can get better deals if your dates are flexible, and most search engines can accomodate that.

Sidestep is another good one.

The sooner you can buy the better. If you wait too long, you take a chance of prices going up and you not getting on a flight. However, if you have to wait, I would wait until January when the holiday season is over. Flights in February are inexpensive compared to the summer and Christmas season. It is also good to depart and return Tues, Wed or Thurs. Flights on weekends are more expensive. A good place to look for flights is on “Amazing Tours and Travel”
